| STOP
THE TREND
A. Daniel Tamir (Aarau- Switzerland )
Dating back up to 500
BC, Ethiopia has been in great termoil of
mainly due to Internal conflicts¨(Wars)
between tribal kings and rulers. As a result
of this, our civilization was destroyed,
people of great ideas and skills were either
killed or dispersed around the world and
above all the Ethiopian mass suffered from
lack of good governance and Poverty.
This problem is still in
place thereby being the major obstacle to
Peace, Stability and Democracy in the country.
Because of this situation, the sustainability
of Development programs were hampered resulting
in bringing Ethiopia at the end of the list
of “Least Developed Countries”.
The existing regime took
power by force in order to place the Weyane
party in power. They purged all existing
parties and community organizations and
formed many tribal parties run by “
Yes-Guys “. Weyane was then superimposed
on those false parties and became the Governing
Party against the will of the Ethiopian
People.
Using “ Force
“ and killing experienced and educated
people in the previous regime, destroying
all Works, ideologies, Culture, and total
structure of the previous regime and starting
from the scratch is the legacy we inherited
from our ancestors in our long history.
Almost all of the rulers and their followers
in the past were either killed or brought
down by force and imprisoned. Then the new
regime begins from the ground level and
tries to work it out according to his dream.
But in actual fact none of them have succeeded
except making Ethiopia a “Testing
ground of different ideologies”.
All of these negative practices
discussed above are not acceptable in the
21st century and we must stop this
trend right now at this point of
time. This can only be achieved if all concerned
avoid their “Hard Line Stand”
and come down to round table discussions
and freely resolve their differences to
form a new system. This
system must really be democratic, acceptable
by all parties and which will always be
there even if there is a change of officials
in power.
The major issues which
must be addressed by all sides are as follows:-
1) The Existing Regime.
a) They must realize that
however powerful they may be, there is always
a danger of having the fate of the previous
regimes in history. I think no one likes
this option to happen since we want to stop
this trend. Harsh rules and stubborn attitudes,
however, may lead to this unwanted catastrophy.
They must / Stop the Trend
/
b) They must not deceive
themselves thinking that their power, strategy
and fighting capability has led them to
power. The actual situation was that all
Ethiopians were frustrated with Derg`s rule
and wanted a change thinking that their
will come a democratic Government. That
was in vain since it was even worse than
ever. They must /Stop the Trend /
c) They have been struggling
for long years for their democratic right
and now when they are in power, why are
they suppressing the Democratic right of
others. They must /Stop the Trend /
2) Opposition parties
a) They must realize that
waging war against the existing regime is
not a solution since war will further illuminate
many thousands of Ethiopians and also devastates
whatever infrastructure we have now.
b) All Opposition parties
must coordinate their struggle with “Kinijit”
and work hand-in- hand irrespective of their
differences.
c) Opposition parties must
struggle hard in all forums peacefully until
they achieve their independence and assist
in all of their capacities local struggles
in the country.
d) We must appeal to the
international organizations, to those countries
and their leaders who advocate for democracy
and peace loving community of the world
to help Ethiopia to be relieved from its
leaders who follow “centuries old
power monger atItudes of old Ethiopia”.
GOD HELP ETHIOPIA TO STOP ALL OF
THESE NEGATIVE TRENDS.
